     Denny Laine did not know this album was released on Warner Bros until 1989. Laine is wearing a Wings T-shirt on the front cover and it is amazing that he didn't perform some of these songs with Paul & Linda McCartney when they were all together. This is music straight from the heart.

The only release by the Batteau brother duo is a perfect mix of balearic blue eyed soul and west coast country rock. Admirers old and new have been constantly pondering, why wasn’t this better known? The record had all the ingredients for commercial success. It was released on Columbia in ’73, features virtuoso guest players including Tom Scott, John Guerin, and Andy Newmark, as well as incredible songwriting and musicianship from the Batteau brothers themselves.         A virtuosic American heavy metal and hard rock guitarist, Paul Gilbert is best known as the ace shredder and co-founder of  Mr. Big , and as a member of Los Angeles-based metallers  Racer X . He launched a solo career in 1996, and has since issued a slew of acclaimed albums.  He has also collaborated with fellow six-string wizards  Eric Johnson ,  Joe Satriani , and  Steve Vai .   JERRY GARCIA  Garcia  (WB,1972) - Folk/Psychedelic rock       One thing you have to say about Jerry Garcia -- he sure does work a lot! In fact, considering the multitude of duties which being a mainstay of the Grateful Dead and part-time guitarist with Howard Wales' group must impose on him, it's hard to imagine where Garcia found the time and energy to do this solo album. The songs, written by Jerry in collaboration with Billy Kreutzmann and Robert Hunter, are very much in the style of recent Dead compositions -- rocking country-blues numbers. Save for "Late for Supper," which is an otherworldly electronic attempt, any one of them could have been tacked onto the  American Beauty  package. In other words, they're not downright country as the songs on  Workingman's Dead ,  but pretty nearly.
