     With his remarkable drumming skills and technical proficiency, he has solidified his place among the best in the business. Together with Dream Theater, he pushed the boundaries of the genre, creating intricate and complex compositions.
     Throughout his career, Portnoy has collaborated with various bands and projects. He’s also has worked with acts such as Avenged Sevenfold and Transatlantic.
     Portnoy is also a highly respected songwriter and producer. His contributions to Dream Theater’s songwriting process have further solidified his reputation as a creative force in the industry.

        More than any other drummer, Matt Cameron laid the rhythmic foundation for the Nineties rock revolution, reconciling proggy technicality with overwhelming force. He aptly characterized his rotary-blade rhythms on the 1991 Soundgarden track "Jesus Christ Pose" as "a pure assault of the senses," but that efficient brutality wasn't necessarily characteristic of Cameron's work with the band – his drumming on  Superunknown  is as thoughtful as it is heavy, from the fluid asymmetry of "Spoonman" to the unshakeable backbeat of "Fell on Black Days." Twenty years after its release, Dave Grohl was  still raving , "Nobody played drums like Matt."   GRAVY TRAIN  Gravy Train  (Vertigo,1970) - Progressive rock       Their debut shows Gravy Train as a brave and daring underground band, heavily influenced by and derivative of other prog/hard acts of the time, yet actually trying to push the boundaries forward. Unfortunately, since the album bombed, the guys preferred to dump all the experimentation of these songs in favour of a smoother, more commercial sound later on, which totally destroyed their idiosyncrasy and forever nailed them as second-rate good-for-nothings.
