     Their first album draws a lot of attention due to it's eye-catching, naked, Easy Rider referencing cover, but is made up primarily of covers. This, their second album is where it's at. This could well be the heaviest album to come out of Japan in the seventies. Superb doom-laden stoner rock with awesome fuzzy guitar riffs and screechy Robert Plant style vocals. Often compared to Black Sabbath. Some nice psychedelic moments later on too.

  MICK FLEETWOOD'S ZOO  I'm Not Me  (RCA,1983) - Rock        The story behind Mick Fleetwood’s 1983  I’m Not Me  is well known. It was his second “solo” album for RCA Records, but everyone, especially Fleetwood, knew it was a band effort. Fleetwood’s name was the draw, but The Zoo was a fully formed ensemble that had been playing together for a year. This occurred because Fleetwood wanted a real group and not an album put out by studio musicians who’d come by, do their parts, and ride off to other projects.        The principal members of the Zoo were Fleetwood on drums, guitarist/singers Billy Burnette and Steve Ross, and bassist/singer George Hawkins. (Hawkins had appeared on Fleetwood’s previous release,  The Visitor ). As Burnette, Hawkins, and Ross shared lead vocal duties and co-wrote many of the songs, the band’s structure was easily compared to that of Fleetwood Mac.   BATTEAUX  Batteaux  (Columbia,1973) - Folk,Rock,Funk         Batteaux  is a long treasured and notoriously under appreciated 70’s underground folk-funk classic. The only release by the Batteau brother duo is a perfect mix of balearic blue eyed soul and west coast country rock. Admirers old and new have been constantly pondering, why wasn’t this better known? The record had all the ingredients for commercial success. It was released on Columbia in ’73, features virtuoso guest players including Tom Scott, John Guerin, and Andy Newmark, as well as incredible songwriting and musicianship from the Batteau brothers themselves. GUITAR WOLF.....Paul Gilbert

        A virtuosic American heavy metal and hard rock guitarist, Paul Gilbert is best known as the ace shredder and co-founder of  Mr. Big , and as a member of Los Angeles-based metallers  Racer X .
